Rusty’s Weekly Recap 1.16.2017
I stayed close to home in State College for most of the week. Started off with a phenomenal sunset over Oak Hall Regional Park on Monday evening.
Wednesday was a snow day for Hailee, so with no school we took a trip out to Bellefonte to feed the ducks in Tallyrand Park. I snapped a few shots while there - the Match Factory (above) and the spillway on Spring Creek (below).
Thursday I took a ride north of Snow Shoe to the Sproul State Forest in Centre County. I visited two waterfalls very familiar to me along the Chuck Keiper Trail.
Yost Run Falls was running full-tilt and its dowstream neighbor Kyler Fork Falls looked equally stunning (show below in black and white).
On Friday I took a road trip to Sullivan County near Hillsgrove, PA. After making a white-knuckled drive 2 miles up an icy dirt road in the Loyalsock State Forest, I arrived at Dry Run Falls.
After getting my fill of Dry Run Falls, I bushwacked up nearby Dutters Run to photograph some of the unnamed waterfalls along that picturesque stream.
I wrapped up the week on Sunday with a family hike at the Alan Seeger Natural Area. A delightful end to another outstanding week of photography!
I've attached a brief video clip featuring some of the waterfalls I encountered in the Loyalsock State Forest on Friday. For those of you who have never visited that neck of Penns Woods, this might be the incentive you need!
